one of my co-workers was talking about a case where they were going to search some place for the body of a missing kid, because a psychic had had a vision that that's where the body was

so far so unremarkable. but here's my question: if they find the body, are they gonna question the psychic? surely the most obvious hypothesis for 'i knew where the body was buried' is that the psychic either was the one who buried it or was a witness to it or overheard a relevant conversation or something, and presumably that something has practical relevance to the investigation.

and if not, does that mean that the justice system officially accepts 'I had a vision' as a valid explanation for why people know things they couldn't possibly? if you get one of those classic murder mystery novel situations where the detective questions a suspect and trips them up into revealing something only the killer knows, can anyone plead 'i had a vision' or do you have to have a track record of calling yourself a psychic?
